Signals and Road Markings

Traffic Lights

  • Red: Stop.
  • Amber: Stop, unless you are too close to the stop-line to stop safely.
  • Green: Go, but check right and left first.
  • Flickering Green Arrow: Signal is about to be cancelled; do not proceed if you haven’t crossed the line.

Road Markings

  • Broken White Line: Centre of a two-way road. You may cross if safe.
  • Continuous White Line: Keep left. Do not cross.
  • Double White Lines: Never cross. No U-turns or overtaking allowed.
  • Yellow Box: Do not enter unless your exit path is clear, except when turning right and waiting for oncoming traffic.
  • Zig-Zag Lines: Found near pedestrian crossings. No stopping or overtaking allowed.

Police Signals

Signals given by a Police Officer take precedence over all other signs and lights. For example, if an officer raises their hand, vehicles approaching from the front and behind must stop.
