Rules of the Road: Junctions and Parking

Junctions & The “Give Way” Rule

  • At uncontrolled junctions, give way to traffic from the right.
  • When turning right, give way to oncoming traffic and traffic turning left from the opposite direction.
  • Yellow Box: It is an offence to block a yellow box junction. Enter only if your exit is clear.

Roundabouts

Slow down and give way to traffic on your right. Traffic from the right has priority.

U-Turns

Do not make a U-turn at any intersection or road opening unless a U-turn sign is present.

Stopping and Parking

Do not park:

  • Within 6 metres of a junction.
  • Within 9 metres of a bus stop.
  • Within 3 metres of a fire hydrant.
  • Facing oncoming traffic.
  • Against double yellow zig-zag lines (No Stopping at all times).
