Vehicle Maintenance and Eco-Driving
Roadworthiness
- Tyres: Treads must be at least 1.6mm deep. Worn tyres cause skids.
- Lights & Indicators: Check regularly. Faulty signals can cause accidents.
- Fluids: Check radiator coolant (when cool), engine oil, and battery water levels regularly.
Eco-Driving
Eco-driving can reduce fuel consumption by up to 10%.
- No Idling: Turn off the engine when stationary. It is an offence to leave the engine running while stationary for non-traffic reasons.
- Tyre Pressure: Correctly inflated tyres reduce drag.
- Smooth Driving: Avoid unnecessary acceleration and heavy braking.
- Air-Con: Avoid setting the temperature too low.
