Vehicle Maintenance and Eco-Driving

Roadworthiness

  • Tyres: Treads must be at least 1.6mm deep. Worn tyres cause skids.
  • Lights & Indicators: Check regularly. Faulty signals can cause accidents.
  • Fluids: Check radiator coolant (when cool), engine oil, and battery water levels regularly.

Eco-Driving

Eco-driving can reduce fuel consumption by up to 10%.

  1. No Idling: Turn off the engine when stationary. It is an offence to leave the engine running while stationary for non-traffic reasons.
  2. Tyre Pressure: Correctly inflated tyres reduce drag.
  3. Smooth Driving: Avoid unnecessary acceleration and heavy braking.
  4. Air-Con: Avoid setting the temperature too low.
